At Parkway Animal Hospital, caring for pets is our passion.
Here, we treat pets like family. We understand how important your companion is to you — because they’re there for you through the thick and thin of life, with a wagging tail or a happy purr, and unconditional love. Our goal is to be your partner in taking care of your pet’s physical and mental wellbeing, so you can enjoy many happy years together. So, whether your pet needs a checkup with a doctor… a caring team and top-notch medical treatments when they’re ill… or, some advice on the best food for them or how to care for them at home — we’re here for you! Here, we see all dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small mammals, and more. And, we’ll strive to make their visit a comfortable and positive experience. Get to know us, and see why both you and your pet will love coming here!
Meet Our Team
Dr. Ned Bartlett , Dr.
Dr. Bartlett joined Parkway Animal Hospital in April 2020 and is very excited to be part of the team!
Dr. Bartlett founded and owned his own Small Animal Veterinary Clinic in Winthrop Harbor, IL, 30 years ago. He has truly enjoyed touching the lives of many clients and their pets, offering thorough veterinary care, surgery, and dentistry in his practice.
Dr. Bartlett has now relocated to Panama City and looking forward to enjoying the Florida sunshine and avoiding the terrible winters in Northern Illinois. He plans on spending his free time kayaking around the Bay area and bonding with Parkway’s wonderful clientele!
Dr. Bartlett says his favorite thing about being a Veterinarian is being able to help people with their 4-legged fury family members.
At home, Dr. Bartlett spends a lot of time with his wife and pit bull “Ivy” and hopes to teach “Ivy” to kayak along with him.Dr. Stephanie Smith
Dr Stephanie Smith is a small animal veterinarian that strives to provide a stress free visit to the patient and a positive experience to the client. She graduated in 2003 from the University of Florida and has practiced both emergency medicine and preventive health during her career. While her focus is cats and dogs, she will help any species in need, and has even performed surgery underwater on a goldfish.
Dr Smith has an interest in behavioral medicine and is a Certified Fear Free veterinarian. This additional training helps her make the veterinary visit less stressful for both the patient and the owner. Her interest in behavior started at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Elephants, mandrills, rhinos, and flamingos were the species studied during her projects. The first flamingo born at Animal Kingdom was named Stephanie in her honor.
Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys travel adventures with her son. The next international trip will be to Australia. In the meantime, you can find them camping at a National Park. Live music is also a hobby and she has been known to travel across the country for a concert. She has a soft spot for opossums and can often be found bottle feeding one in the spring.
Her other travel companion and hiking buddy is her black and white dog named Orca.Dr. Jon-Paul Carew
Dr. Jon-Paul Carew gained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Biology in 1997 at FAU, before graduating from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001.
Dr. Carew completed his clinical year at The University of Georgia. He has been practicing veterinary medicine in Florida since October 2001. Dr Carew has worked at Parkway Animal Hospital since November 2018. He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine including surgery and exotic medicine. He has a special interest in pain management and anesthesia.
In his free time, Dr. Carew enjoys exploring north Florida’s springs and hiking with his two terriers, Finn and Calypso.Dr. Daniell Russell
Dr. Danielle Russell is from Merritt Island, Florida, and completed her undergraduate degrees in animal science and entomology at the University of Florida. She graduated from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021, and is especially interested in behavior, exotic species, and wildlife conservation medicine. While in veterinary school, she completed the Fear Free Certification program, and loves to use low-stress handling and positive reinforcement training techniques to help pets be more comfortable during their veterinary visits. Dr. Russell enjoys giving exercise, mental stimulation, and training tips for all kinds of species to help pets and their people have more harmonious relationships at home and in the clinic.
During her free time, Dr. Russell can be found hiking with her camera in hand, tackling craft projects, and training her dog, Timber.
The staff and doctors here are caring and hard working, plus they keep the costs within reason. For those of us who try to help with strays and rescues, they are a godsend. Thank you for all you do, you all are appreciated.

For years Parkway Animal Hospital has been providing health care for pets in our local community. I want to thank them for opening their doors as soon as they could after Hurricane Michael, albeit, in a smaller office and with limited resources Parkway was there for their furry friends and owners. Like most businesses in Panama City, Parkway was also devastated by Hurricane Michael, however, like most of us Parkway has come back strong! From the moment you enter the door you'll be asking yourself, "Am I in the right place?" Parkway is completely remodeled, it is bright and inviting with more seating in the waiting area and new exam rooms. Friendly and helpful staff as well as service and prices remain the same. So, be sure to check them out!

So far this is the best animal hospital I've taken my dog to. The nurses and doctors care so much for any animal warm or cold blooded. They all go well above what they have to do, in order to make sure your pet is healthy and comfortable. My puppy Max loves seeing them.
